Obituary of Rachel Marzouk

Rachel Marzouk was born in Cairo, Egypt in January 1937. She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Amin; her caring children, Nadia Marzouk, Irene (Rodney) Pritchard, Joe (Laila) Marzouk & Priscilla (Brian) Sheridan; her Sister, Ninette Levy; her Sister-In-Law, Laila Shammas; her five grandchildren: Raymond (Anna) Kasprzak, Brandy (Phothira) Xayavong, Jacqueline (Glenn) Plank, Ethan (Dahley) Pritchard & Calvin Marzouk; her great granddaughter, Liliya Xayavong; many dear cousins, nieces & nephews, and other loving family & friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Dr. Roger Shammas. Amid political and religious turmoil in her birth country, Rachel emigrated with her husband and three young children to the United States. They settled in Rochester, NY in 1964 after a two year wait in Paris, France. Rachel learned to speak English and worked part-time while raising their family. Over 25 years were spent at JP Morgan Chase where she was a valued employee. Within a few years of arriving, the family purchased their first home in Irondequoit, NY while welcoming their fourth child Priscilla. Their home was always open, and welcoming due to the very hospitable and generous spirit they displayed. Her joy in life came from sharing a meal with others, gardening, as well as traveling. She especially enjoyed family vacations at the ocean and spending winters in Florida. What became an even greater joy was that of sharing her faith. First contacted by Jehovah’s Witnesses in a door-to-door manner, she learned many Bible truths which led her on the path of true worship of Jehovah God, her Creator. In 1968, she dedicated her life as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Rachel was well known for her remarkable faith. She became an ardent student of the Bible and would read and study God’s Word daily. She loved sharing that faith and was viewed by many as their spiritual mother. She was known in the community as a Bible teacher, assisting many to grow in their love and knowledge of Jehovah God. She was confident that God’s Kingdom will surely come and that His will, done on earth, will mean wonderful blessings, just as He promised. You can learn more of her beliefs on website: JW.org Truly loved by many and will be missed greatly. Rachel was laid to rest at White Haven Memorial Park in Pittsford, New York on October 20th, 2021. The date and time of a Memorial talk via Zoom is yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses (donate.jw.org) Our family would like to thank you for your support, and encouragement during this difficult time. Your love brought a smile and heartwarming comfort to her. Your kindness means more than words can express.
