James Alan Dawson
Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, died peacefully at home on August 2, 2022, at the age of 80. Born in London, England during WWII to James and Minnie Fullforth Dawson, he became a chemist, working for British Rail and Johnson Mathey before moving to Rank Xerox at age 26 to head his own lab. He received patents for toners, going on to increased responsibilities and residences in Rochester, NY and Gloucester, England, ultimately managing 300 engineers in Welwyn Garden City, and somehow found time to run 7 marathons. Before taking early retirement, he became CEO of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Upon moving to the US, he started AIMM Inc. for international export consulting. He will live on in his wife, Lorna Diehl Dawson; children, Simon, Angela and David Dawson; brother, David Dawson; step-children, Jason (Bonnie) Diehl, Dr. Courtney Diehl; granddaughters, Cydney and Paige Dawson and Sunny and Morgan Winn. He was a lovely man, kind and funny, and he was always happy. He built furniture, some massive stone retaining walls, a hilly woodland path and a deer-proof raised bed garden for his vegetables, when he was not watching his Arsenal FC games. He will be sadly missed.
His graveside funeral service will be held on Monday August 8th, 10:30am at White Haven Memorial Park. Please gather at main entrance. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to UR Medicine Home Care 2180 Empire Blvd. Webster, NY 14580.
