Obituaries
Daniel (Dan) Michael Walters was born in North Kingston, Rhode Island on June 17, 1963, to Mr. Elmer Marvin Walters and Mrs. Christine Aleen Walters. The family later moved to Rochester, New York where Daniel attended Franklin High School from 1976 through 1980. After high school, Daniel was hired at New Crown Beverages, a job he enjoyed.
In 1986 Dan joined the Local #13 Plumbers Union where he achieved his plumbing certification. Throughout the years Dan learned several trades including carpentry, electrical, roofing, masonry work, drywall, painting, and so many other skills. Basically, Dan could build you a house.
In 2007 Daniel met April Moore of Rochester, NY through mutual friends. Their relationship blossomed over the years, and they were married. Dan and April loved each other with their heart and soul. They took care of each other through thick and thin. They began raising their grandson, Jamar Jr., in 2012. Dan had a special relationship with Jamar Jr., and the two spent a great deal of time together. Anything Jamar Jr. needed, Dan was there for him.
Daniel was a very thoughtful, giving, and caring person, a nurturer, and a teacher. He willingly taught others the skills that he had learned. Daniel was also strong-minded and thought that anything was possible. When he had ideas, he made them come alive. He was self-motivated, and he loved the work he did until his last days. A Jack of All Trades, he earned the title “Dan the Man” from his family. Dan loved family gatherings and entertaining his guests. A very well-loved uncle by his nieces and nephews, he was always there to help in any way he could.
On November 16, 2023 after a long battle with cancer, Dan gained his wings and departed this life. He is predeceased by his father, Elmer Marvin Walters; his son, Javier Colon; his daughter, Danielle Walters, and sister, Flora Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, April Moore Walters; three children: Daniel Jr., Ashley, and Brandon; 8 grandchildren: Anthony, Dominic, Jamar Jr., Marino, Loralye, Chloe, Olivia, and Carter; his mother, Christine Aleen Smith; three sisters: Regina, Rochelle, and Renee; one stepson, Jamar Moore Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Daniel will be deeply missed by the people that loved him, and he is truly irreplaceable.
His memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 5:30 PM at Millenium Lounge, Greece Canal Park 241 Elmgrove Rd. Greece, New York 14626
