Marie J. Barg

Passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her devoted family on June 29, 2022 at the age of 94.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Edward and her son-in-law Timothy. She is survived by her children, James (Sarah) Barg, Kathleen Bastian and Alice Barg; grandchildren Sherry (Mark) Herrick, Jamie (Keith) Sullivan, Lindsey Marquez and Mike Barg; great grandchildren Zoe, Patrick, Peter, Leilani and Latianna; her sister-in-law Beverly (Robert) Williams; long time friends Greg (Cheryl) Marshall & their daughter Emma, many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Marie was a devout catholic, wonderful wife, Mom and homemaker. She also worked with her husband Ed in his surveying business for many years. Marie loved her husband Ed, her family, family gatherings, rides, her birds, roses/flowers and gardening. Ed and Marie enjoyed being together and their trips to Atlantic City and local casinos.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 6^th 4-7 P.M. at Dierna Funeral Home, 2309 Culver Road. (Near Norton St.) Her Funeral Mass will be held Thursday July 7^th at 10:30 AM at St. Rita’s Church, 1008 Maple Drive, Webster, NY 14680.

Donations can be made in her memory to National Kidney Foundation.

June 21, 2022, at age 50, of Clemons, NY. Passed away unexpectedly in Pembroke, NY doing what he loved to do – drive truck!!

He was born March 28,1972.

Chris leaves behind his wife, Joanne Eagan, of 30 years of marriage 36 years together. Chris’s pride and joy are his children and grandchildren that he loved dearly, Riley & husband Robert Ballard and their children Karson and Amelia Ballard of Whitehall, NY. Joellen & husband John Drost and their children Jadyn , Haley, Jace, and Kara Drost of Clemons, NY. Chris is also survived by his mother, Theresa Eagan, his brother Bernie & wife Julie Eagan of Whitehall, NY, his brother Art Eagan of Whitehall, NY. Nieces Vanessa Eagan and her daughter Karmela of Whitehall, NY, Ashley Eagan of Whitehall, NY. Laura Walker and daughter Autumn of New Mexico. Genny Scott and son Aeron of Whitehall, NY, Jessika Erickson of Whitehall, NY, nephew Justin Eagan of Whitehall, NY, Kevin Raymond of Clemons, NY. Ex sister-in-law Kerry Buchino of Whitehall, NY, ex-sister-in-law Tammy Angus. Along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is pre deceased by his dad Bernie; four brothers , Peter, Paul , Timmy, and Joe Eagan; nephew Tyler Eagan; his best friends Newy Raymond , Pete Mathews, and Leon Wilbur.

Chris was a self-employed truck driver for most of his life. He loved to race his big brothers Bernie and Artie when they would cross paths on the road. When not trucking, he enjoyed having a beer on the deck with his employees, friends, and family, along with telling all the trucking stories, who had the best/fastest truck, cat or Detroit. Peterbilt or kw . Who had more miles forward and backwards – it was always a competition .

Chris loved to take his boat out tubing with all the kids. His best outing was when he took his daughters, neices, nephews, and the Dudley kids ,Chris, Logan, Olivia who he loved as his own, to NYC around the Statue of Liberty and back . Chris also enjoyed fishing and again competing who catches the first fish to the biggest fish – most of the time he would lose the bet . He loved to snowmobile and go 4 wheeling with his daughters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his home Saturday, July 2 from 3-8PM at 170 County Route 7, Clemons, NY. Please bring your own chair, eat, have a beer and share your memories. This is what Chris would have wanted.

Obituary of Betty Adams

Betty Adams passed away at her beloved home in Brighton, New York on April 10th, 2022 at the age of 98. Betty was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on June 18th, 1923, the eldest daughter in a family of four girls. After moving to Madison, Wisconsin, Betty met her partner for life, Alfred Adams. Betty and Al won scholarships to the University of Wisconsin, Madison and attended college on an accelerated schedule due to the need for men and women to join the WW II war effort. Betty graduated with a degree in Journalism and Al procured a job at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York with his Chemical Engineering degree. Betty joined Al in Rochester and they were married with just two witnesses on March 13, 1945. At the age of 42, Betty began her career with her oldest daughters in college and high school and her youngest just 8 years old. Her first job was as a proofreader for Wolfe Publications- Post Suburban Newspapers, where she excelled in her work and began writing the column “Gourmet’s Choice”, interviewing local men and women who loved to cook as well as renowned chefs such as James Beard. She was ultimately promoted to editor of the Greece Post newspaper and held that position for many years, mentoring younger staff in the craft of newspaper writing. Her skills led her to a new career as a public affairs and communications specialist for The Rochester Institute of Technology, Crestwood Children’s Center, and the Rochester Foundation. “Retiring” in her 70’s, she continued to write, freelancing for the George Eastman House, writing articles for local magazines including the magazine “Rochester Women” where she also served on the Advisory Board. In her 80’s she co-wrote and edited Robert Stevens’ book about Robert W.S. Stevens– a lawyer, politician and western rail and business entrepreneur from NY state entitled Thunderbolt from a Clear Sky – The Irrepressible Life of Robert W.S. Stevens.

Betty loved her adopted city of Rochester and was dedicated to supporting the community. She was president of the regional Camp Fire Girls, winning the organization’s highest award, the Luther Halsey Gulick medallion for her leadership in training leaders and advancing the group’s acceptance into the Community Chest of Rochester. Betty was an active member of Women in Communications Inc. and won their prestigious Matrix Award in 1985 in recognition of her long journalistic career and her dedication to advancing the role of women in communications. She was an avid supporter of the theater group, Rochester Community Players, where she served as a Board Member, donating her writing skills to promote their work and thoroughly enjoying the theater scene.

Betty lived a full life, as a mother, wife and a woman dedicated to her career and friendships. She supported and mentored younger professionals, helped to build supportive networks, and was known for her positive attitude, her love of entertaining, and her contagious laugh. She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Adams Striebel, Leslie Adams Fleming and Elizabeth Adams; five grandchildren Jessica Striebel MacLean, Matthew Striebel, Quinn Fleming, Peter Striebel and Maia Fleming; and four great grandchildren Beatrix MacLean, Marlowe and Sam Striebel, and Verity Rossi-Fleming. Obituary of Laurie Ann DelConte

Dr. Laurie Ann DelConte, AuD.

With great sadness we announce the loss of our daughter Laurie Ann DelConte. Laurie passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the age of 60 at her home in the Town of Greece, New York. Born in the City of Rochester on November 13, 1961, Laurie and her sister Mary Joy DelConte were raised by her loving parents Rosalie and Dennis DelConte.

Laurie attended Bishop Kearney High School, achieving early and subsequent educational successes at the Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate levels achieving ranking degrees in education and audiology, and fluency in sign language. Laurie worked for several fortune 500 hearing aid and pharmaceutical companies winning global awards for contributions to technology development and applications such as the first audio headset placed in the Buffalo Bills helmet. Laurie left the work force subsequent to employment with the US Department of Defense Medical Team at Fort Drum, where she extended her audiology expertise to soldiers that experienced hearing loss in combat.

Laurie was blessed with a multitude of talents she displayed as a pitcher on championship softball teams, a member in award winning marching and pit bands during times she played piccolo and flute never hesitating to photograph a beautiful scenic view in her world travels. Laurie was relied on by her friends as the best event and party planner whereby she could ensure that she would not miss out on all the good ones, and to do what she really loved most and that is to spend time with Layla, family and an overwhelming number of friends that she cherished and cared for so deeply that could be found in most any state she had previously traveled to.

Laurie is survived by her parents Rosalie (Jim Flaherty) DelConte, Dennis DelConte, sister Mary Joy (Twinc Legacy) DelConte, and many close friends, uncles, aunts and cousins. Laurie was an extraordinarily kind, loving, giving and humorous individual who will be greatly missed by so many people.

George M. McCool Jr

Passed away Monday June 6, 2022, after an extended illness.George was born to Catherine and George Mason McCool, Sr on April 15,1955 in Cedartown, GA. After his birth they returned home to Chicago, Illinois. His father began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses but passed away before he could be baptized when George was 5 years old. Soon after his father’s death his mother began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized and soon began and continued pioneering until her death in 2016.George was baptized May 1, 1965, at the age of ten. He and his family lived in Chicago until he was 15 years old when they and close friends, the Gibson family, moved to Dickson, Tennessee and later Waverly, Tennessee to serve where the need was great. They served in Tennessee from 1970 to 1975. They then moved to Rochester to be closer to his sister Jan who married Jack Dukes in 1973.George met his wife of 44 years, Julie, at the Plymouth Kingdom Hall (now Genesee Valley) and the two married in 1977. George was an avid chess player and enjoyed playing cards. Along with playing with the latest tech gadgets and cooking, George enjoyed sports and discussing the ins and outs of whatever game he was watching with Dan, James and Tony. He also enjoyed sitting on the porch talking with Bernard, the neighbors and passersby.George is survived by his wife Julie; sons Walter (Keshia) Rhim and Curtis McCool; daughters Carmela McCool and Tashonta (Nathanael) Stanley, Lisa Rhim; grandchildren Jaloni, Octavia, Dequan, and Armani Rhim, and Greyson and Khaliq McCool; sisters Jan Dukes and Maggie Morehead; brothers Dwight and Tony McCool and Cleo Gibson; brother-in-law Ronnie Davis; sisters-in-law Dorothy Spikes and Shelley Davis; and a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as close friends that he loved dearly.

Obituary of Charles Roemer

Charles Craig Roemer, son of Whitelaw and Lillian (Mahan) Roemer, died of metastatic prostate cancer on May 31, 2022, at the age of 76, after living with that disease for over 19 years. He is survived by his life partner Helvi McClelland, his daughter Alanna Roemer-Koke, his son-in-law Gary Koke, his former wife Darlene Roemer, his cousins, and his close friends.

Charlie was a passionate learner. He studied English literature and social work, both of which set the foundation for how he lived life. His social work training led to many years of work taking special needs people on wilderness trips and also to working with school children and their families. He taught all of us to challenge ourselves, push past our comfort zone and live in the moment.

Charlie was a true adventurer at heart living with joy and exuberance. He loved sailing Lake Ontario with his mother and family. He even crossed the Atlantic as a crew member of a Tall Ship. Charlie loved seeing the world. He drove cross-country several times, often on his motorcycle. Connecting with the land, taking the “road less traveled,” and trying to get lost brought him happiness. He created his own path and encouraged others to do the same. He loved life and its diverse tapestry.

With contagious laughter and sharp, witty humor, his compassion was undeniable. Conversations with Charlie left friends feeling entirely seen and heard. He intuitively believed in the importance of interconnection with each other and the environment, that what we do to one impacts the whole. To that end, he treated people with genuine love, gentleness, respect and kindness.

At the age of 53, he took up stone carving, working in verde antique, marble, sandstone, and granite. He lives on in his many sculptures that are now in the possession of individuals and organizations with whom he had close ties.

Charlie was honored with an intimate graveside celebration of his life and spirit on June 1, 2022 in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or contributions, Charlie said he’d like each person who reads this to do something good for another person. Till we meet again…

After many months of declining health Kevin died peacefully on May 17, 2022, with his loving, devoted girlfriend Debbie Bennett of 20 years by his side.

Along with Debbie Kevin is survived by his mother Mary Lou Grady, father Alan Grady and Mother in Law Carol Perry. His sister Bethann Acker(Michael) and sister in law Lori Padulo. His children Alyssa Bodyk(Joe), James Grady and step daughter Nicole Kralis(Frank). His nephew Brendon Acker. His grandchildren Lucas, Brianna, Ethan, Hailey and Christopher. As well as a host of life long friends and family.
