Obituary of Mark O’Brien

Mark V. O’Brien, of Fairport, NY, passed away on May 1, 2023. He was 68 years young and a
beloved Dad and Papa.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Arthur B. O’Brien and Shirley J. O’Brien. He is survived
by his cherished daughter, Justine M. O’Brien; his adored grandson, Aidyn V. Ocasio; siblings
Kevin J. O’Brien (Jennifer Sclar) and Claire F. O’Brien (Timothy Brosnan); nieces and nephews
Rebecca, Sarah, Benjamin, and Abigail O’Brien and Kevin, Helen, and Charlotte Brosnan; an
extended network of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and numerous members of the Hill family.
Mark was born in Rochester, NY, graduated from St. John Fisher University, and worked at
Eastman Kodak Company, AIG, and JPMorgan Chase Bank. His biggest dream in life was to
become a Dad; Justine’s arrival, followed decades later by Aidyn’s birth, and spending time with
them throughout their lives meant everything to Mark. He was fun loving, passionate about ‘all
things sports’, personable, quick to smile, proud of his Irish heritage, and could always be
counted on to share the latest piece of trivia and ask about your family members. Special family
memories centered around life at Keuka Lake. Mark was well loved, had a seemingly
inexhaustible will to live, and will be dearly missed.
Mark’s entire family is especially grateful to Justine, Aidyn, Laurie O’Brien Cargill, and Jean Hill
Oswald for their generous gifts of time and support as Mark valiantly struggled with health
issues.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 553 Humboldt St., Rochester,
NY on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre
