Mrs. Bernice Burden “Granny”
June 28, 1946 – December 29, 2025

Mrs. Bernice Burden was born on June 28, 1946, in Rochester, New York, to the late Ocie and Lula Mae Zeigler. A woman of quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication, Bernice built a life rooted in service—to her family, her community, and her faith.

She was a devoted employee of Unity Health, formerly Parkridge Hospital, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Bernice also served joyfully and tirelessly as an usher at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, greeting all who entered with grace and a welcoming spirit.

On January 4, 2026, just days after Bernice’s passing, her beloved husband of more than 40 years was called home to be with the Lord, reunited once again with the love of his life. Their bond, steadfast and enduring, remains a testament to faith, partnership, and devotion.

Bernice’s legacy lives on through her three children: Brenda Zeigler‑Johnson, W. Terrance Zeigler, and Yolanda Burden; ten grandchildren; and three great‑grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, one sister, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her cherished Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church family.

A joint Celebration of Life for Mr. and Mrs. Burden will be held on Monday, January 12th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00–11:00 a.m., at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, 111 Clifton Street, Rochester, NY.

Interment will follow at White Haven Memorial Park.

The family invites you to share memories, condolences, and reflections below as they honor the life and love of Mrs. Burden.
