Obituaries

Sis. Bernice Price, born March 4, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Robert L. Price and Emma Bronner, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on February 27, 2026, at the age of 70. Her life was a testament to service, faith, and unwavering love for her family and community.

A devoted member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, Sis. Price served faithfully as Choir Director and Sunday School Teacher. Through music and ministry, she shaped generations—teaching them not only how to find the right note, but how to walk in the Word of God. Her passion for children extended far beyond the church walls, as she spent countless hours tutoring young people throughout the community, offering guidance, encouragement, and a steady presence.

Family was the heart of her world. She will be forever cherished by her two brothers, Alfred (Diane) Price and Robert S. El-Amin; her eight nieces and nephews; and their children, all of whom she adored deeply. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith will continue to live on in each of them.

Sis. Price will also be lovingly remembered by her Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family, who were blessed by her leadership, her voice, and her service for more than half a century.

A Musical Tribute will be held on Friday, March 20th, from 6:30–8:30 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 AM, both at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 304 Joseph Avenue. Pastor James L. Cherry, Jr. will officiate. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.

Flowers may be sent to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Messages of love and remembrance are welcomed below.

  15. Dear Alfred, Robert and other family members of Bernice: I just heard the shocking news about Bernice this afternoon. My heart is heavy with grief. I send deepest condolences to you all.
What a blessing and privilege it was to attend school with Bernice…despite the fact that she beat me in everything!!! She won every oratory competition we were in. She was always first and I was always 2nd. Upon graduating ninth grade, she was named outstanding student of the year and once again I came up short. Bernice also did an outstanding job of representing the student body of Saginaw High School when she appeared before the Saginaw City Council (while in 10th grade) regarding the city buses repeatedly getting us to school late. Bernice faced the City Council members and said “If this nation can get a man to the moon, it should be able to get students to school on time.!” Bernice was also Valedictorian of our SHS class of of 1972. I hope the members of the SHS class of 1972 put together a memorial service here for Bernice. I am more than willing to help. My phone number is 989.798.8674

  22. Dear cousin Bernice, where did the time go? You think you have time for this and time for this and then it’s gone. So glad we shared time growing up in Saginaw. We connected from time to time to share life events. I miss you from our weekly family conference call. You would bless us with your singing. So cousin, sing on in the heavenly choir.

  24. I was saddened to hear about Sis Price death. I will always remember her for her love of God, church and community. As Choir Director, she always made sure that each individual in the choir was singing the correct note according to their section. I left Rochester some years ago and still appreciate Sis Price for instiling in me the joy of singing.

  25. Price you were such a gem . I had the opportunity of being under your leadership for 22 years. Started out in the sunshine choir to young adult choir. Looking back at , being young we thought you were hard. However you wanted the best for us all. Much was required, however much was given. You didn’t play about our rehearsal time. You had some catch phrases, that i imitate often. I was glad i was able to sit and talk with you a few months back, and give you your flowers. Take your rest Queen . Well deserved.

  26. My sincere condolences to you all during this difficult time. May the special memories bring you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
