Brigitta Lux
Nov 17, 1936 – June 15, 2025
Brigitta Lux passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of Adalbert (Bert) Lux for 66 years, a loving mother to Christa Barbagallo and her husband Antonino “Tony” Barbagallo, and a devoted grandmother/Oma, to her “shatzi”, Isabella Barbagallo (Phil Milligan). Brigitta is also survived by her dearest friend of 30+ years who is also a family member, Iole Barbagallo, along with extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
Born on November 17, 1936, Brigitta immigrated to the United States as a teenager during wartime, arriving with her family and very little else. She became a hair stylist. After marriage, in 1964 Brigitta built a new life with her husband and daughter in Penfield, NY. Brigitta was a homemaker for many years and took great pride in her family. For many years, she worked part time driving a school bus for handicapped children.
A devoted homemaker, Brigitta poured her heart into everything she did, baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, canning, and especially quilting. Everything she created was done with love and meticulous care; she was truly her own toughest critic. Her quilts, which won awards, were just one expression of her artistic spirit and attention to detail.
Brigitta was a proud member of several community and church groups, including the Webster Quilt Club, Jackson Road Garden Club, Xerox Pioneer Club, and various ladies’ groups at Faith Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed traveling with Bert, but above all, she cherished time spent with family.
Her greatest joy came from creating meaningful traditions, especially in the kitchen. Brigitta carefully translated her treasured family recipes into English, resulting in a book of Christmas cookies and sweets that will ensure “Oma’s” love continues to touch future generations. Some of the happiest days were those when Brigitta and Isabella baked or sewed together. Brigitta bravely lived with Parkinson’s Disease for many years. The disease slowly took away the abilities she most treasured, but never her spirit, her grace, or the love she gave so freely to those around her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation www.parkinson.org in Brigitta Lux’s honor.
