Christopher Sofia, age 79, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, while in hospice care, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and other serious health complications. He was born on August 11, 1946.

Christopher was predeceased by his son, Christopher A. Sofia; parents, Anthony Sofia and Lucy (Palermo) Sofia; his sister, Carmela Smith; and his brother, Joseph Sofia.

Christopher was a devoted husband of 48 years to his beloved wife, Patricia A. (Russi) Sofia. He is survived by his loving daughter, Tricia (John) Morris; his sons, William (Jacqueline) Sofia and Timothy Russi; brothers, Salvatore Sofia and Anthony Sofia, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather and is survived by several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In his later years, Christopher shared a special bond with his devoted friend, Timothy Gartley, who became like a son to him. Timothy was a constant source of care, and quiet strength, selflessly supporting him each day. Timothy’s passing was a profound loss for him.

In his final years, Christopher faced tremendous challenges, including the loss of his eyesight and hearing, and limited mobility. Despite it all, he never lost his sense of humor or the deep love he had for his family. No matter the pain he endured, he continued to bring light to those around him with his wit, strength, and unwavering spirit.

Christopher spent his final days surrounded by the constant love and care of his wife, daughter, and granddaughters, who remained by his side, bringing him comfort and peace.

He will be remembered for his resilience, his humor, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who truly knew and loved him.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 12th, at 9:30AM at Holy Apostles Church, 7 Austin St. Rochester, NY 14606. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
