Gerry Herdzik born on February 19, 1952 suddenly passed away on January 15, 2026.
Family was the center of her life, and she found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved. Those she leaves behind find joy in knowing she was reunited with her parents, John and Rose Vacanti and mother-in-law Jan Mikolajczak along with loved ones that went before her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace, watching over them, and resting in God’s eternal care.
She is survived by the love of her life of 38 years, Rick Herdzik, daughter, Cassie (David) Faucher and son, Jeremy (Maggie) Oakden, grandchildren, Joshua (Abby) Herlan, Leah (Jacob) Bianchi, Jake (Rachel) Herlan, Carley, Luke, Mary and Jack Oakden and great-grandchildren Avery, Frankie, Rick, Everett and Morgan, sister Patricia MacMurdo, nephew Keegan MacMurdo and niece Courtney (Joey) Dottore, father-in-law Mike “Pops” Mikolajczak, sister in law Donna Lang and nephew Bryan Lang and extended family and friends.
Gerry’s final wish and last selfless act was to have her body donated to research at URMC school of medicine: therefore a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Dear Rick, Patty, and Family,
Im sending my deepest sympathy to all of you.
Many memories from my childhood include Gerry, and my sister in-law Mary(many years before she was my sister in-law) swimming in the pool at out Aunts house, cook outs, Family picnics, and holiday time.
We weren’t blood, but we were still Family.
Keep the memories alive in you head, and heart, and soon the tears will turn to smiles when you think of her.
Our prayers are with you all. What a tremendous loss you bear. May God be your comfort!
