Henry George Maerlender III

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry George Maerlender III, who left this world on May 22, 2023. Born on November 2, 1971, Henry was also known by his nickname, Boo. He is preceded by his father Henry George II and survived by his Mother Mary, two children Taylor, & Henry George IV, brothers William and Robert Maerlender, sisters Bonnie Cunningham and Christine Missell who will all cherish their memories for years to come.

Those who knew Henry will remember his compassionate, generous, and funny personality. He was always there to offer a helping hand and bring laughter to any situation. One of the most memorable lessons he shared from his youth was not to light the hill across the street on fire in an attempt to encourage a fire truck to arrive—a testament to his adventurous spirit and sense of humor.

Henry had a diverse range of accomplishments throughout his life. He had a successful career as sales executive for Haggar and Marino Bay before transitioning to law enforcement as a Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy, where he served with dedication. He was also a member of the Mounted Patrol, and loved being on patrol with his beloved horse, Pepper.

However, the most important part of Henry’s life were his two children, Taylor and Henry George IV (Jack), Henry’s greatest joy came from spending time with his children and sharing his love for life with them. They will continue to honor his legacy and carry on the invaluable memories together.

A Celebration of Life for Henry will be held on June 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Dierna Funeral Home. We invite all who knew and loved Henry to come together to celebrate and honor his life, remembering the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him. In lieu of flowers, Please consider a donation to EquiCenter  in Honeoye Falls, an organization dedicated to Equine therapy.  https://www.equicenterny.org/…

  1. Hello,

My friendship with Henry through our time riding as partners on the Monroe County Sheriff’s Dept Mounted Unit.

There are so many sides to Henry. While on duty as a Deputy, where ever that was he was a model of Professionalism and Kindness.
He was an eager and fast learner when it came to riding his Real Partner, “Pepper”. Henry never shyed away from a challenge or opportunity to become a better rider.

Very few people when meeting Henry off or on duty couldn’t help but befriend him right off the bat. He so genuinely loved people and stepped right up to help others when he could.

We can’t talk about Henry G….without using the word funny. Oh my gosh, I never laughed so much in my life as I did when I was with him. Henry is one of a kind and made so many peoples days a little better.

Sadly a disease took our most wonderful friend, brother from us. All I can honestly say that my personal life was definitely made better by knowing him.

Rest In Peace, Love ya !
