Obituaries

John William Gulisano “Pops”, an amazing father, partner, friend, and Papa at the young age of 69 has passed away after years of many health complications.

John is survived by his children, Lisa (Rob), Lori (Mark), Nick, Andrea (Sam), and Carla (Jesse); grandchildren Jj, Ella, Ava, and Antonio; great grandson, Kasai; Luis, who was like a second son to him, and many friends and family.

He is predeceased by his parents Sam Gulisano and Ruth Milbourne; great Aunt, Frances Gulisano, his first wife, Joanne; second wife, Sharon and many lifelong friends and family.

John was a strong, resilient, and spiritual man who overcame many hardships throughout his life but no matter what obstacles he faced, he always got right back up ready for the next challenge.

He was a devoted loving father with an amazing sense of humor that always brightened people’s day. He loved to be around people and so much, so it was hard to go anywhere with him without someone knowing him. He was always kind and empathetic to everyone around him, a great problem solver, and the person that everyone would go to when they had an issue as he naturally knew the right thing to do. He was just an overall good hearted family guy and especially adored his grandkids. He always looked forward to setting up his garden every year, cooking, and loved hosting events at his house. Not only did he have a passion for whipping up a great meal, but he was considered to be a “world class chef” to his family, friends and even people just passing by. John loved getting into a good political debate, was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back, lift you up if you were down, never judge you and make you laugh til you cried with his stories & humor. He will be deeply missed by everyone.

A gathering for friends and family will be held Thursday March 12, 2026, 5-7pm at Dierna Funeral Home 2309 Culver Rd.; Mass at Holy Cross Church 4492 Lake Ave on Friday March 13, 2026, at 10:30am and Burial Services at White Haven Memorial Park in the Orchid Mausoleum.

  3. My Heart is so heavy right now. Losing him feels like losing a piece of my childhood, a piece of my family. He wasn’t just my cousin-when I was younger, he was like an uncle to me, someone who always made me laugh, tease me, and filled so many moments with good food and joy. Those memories mean more to me than I can put into words. I keep thinking about the laughter, the jokes, and how his smile would always bring a light to the room. Even though our hearts are hurting, I hope we can hold onto the love and memories we all share of him. I love you all so much and even though I can’t be there, I hope you all know that I am holding our whole family close in my heart right now. He will always be a part of us, we are GULISANO’S, he will never be forgotten.
