Obituaries

5/9/1931 – 2/18/2026

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary (Barlow) Christian, his sister Rosemarie Marko, and daughter in law Margaret Christian.

Survived by his loving daughter Deborah (Richard) Parrinello and son Joseph, grandchildren Richard (Julie) Parrinello, James and Mathew Parrinello, Kathryn (Christopher) Mulheron, and Joseph (Valerie) Christian and great granddaughters Pepper, Juliette, and Mackenzie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Baseball was more than a pastime to Joe – it was his livelihood. He was a professional baseball player with a career spanning over 30 years. In the later half of his career he played for the Rochester Red Wings.

Following his baseball career, Joe proudly worked for Sibley’s as a Store Manager. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of Lakeshore Country Club.  Those who knew Joe will remember his love of storytelling and being the center of every party.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Lollypop Farm, Humane Society of Greater Rochester.

  1. I’ve had the pleasure of many years of golfing with Joe and sharing a few pops afterwards at Lake Shore. Toss in a few breakfast meetings with several fellow members. More recently, sharing coffee every few weeks at his home. I will miss those sessions.

Joe, thanks for the memories. RIP

  2. Having Joe as a neighbor and friend was an amazing honor. I enjoyed having a beer out on his front stoop once in awhile, having him over for dinner, and the many other ways we engaged in conversation. The best neighbor I have ever had. You will be dearly missed, Joe. My thoughts and prayers of comfort are with the entire family during this difficult time. I will be rooting for the Steelers next season for him
