Lawanda “Lavee” Williamson, age 51, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Lawanda was born on February 25, 1975, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Bonnie Lee.

She was raised in Bridgeport alongside her four siblings, where she built the foundation of the love, strength, and vibrant spirit that would define her life. She attended Longfellow School and later Bassick High School.

Affectionately known as “Lavee,” she was a true diva in the best sense—full of style, confidence, and joy. She loved to shop, dress beautifully, dance, and bring light into every space she entered. Her presence was warm and magnetic, and she had a way of making others feel seen and uplifted. She found deep joy in cooking, laughing, and spending time with those she loved most. Family was at the center of Lawanda’s life. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, and her greatest happiness came from being with her children and grandchildren.

Lawanda was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mary Lee; her grandfather, Robert Williamson; and her uncle, Wayne Lee. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Bonnie Lee; her daughters, Ajana Riley and Navierre Johnson; and her cherished grandchildren: Nae’Lani Johnson, Nashauin Champion, and Novah Champion. She is also survived by her sisters, Sa’meeka Williamson and Lakeycha Holmes; her step-sister, Charmaine Payton; her brothers: Daezhon Williamson, Leevester Payton, and Jeremiah Ridgeway; step-brothers, Eric Payton and Sam Payton; and her fathers: Sam Payton and Willie Rumph. A special notice of love to Andrea Darden and her uncle, Timothy Williamson. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to carry her memory forward.

Lawanda’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and light. She will be remembered for her bold spirit, her deep love for her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever felt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 4th at Noon (Visitation 10am-Noon) at Dierna Funeral Home. The interment will be Private. Please leave a message of Love below.
