In Loving Memory of Lydia G. Jones
Sunset: October 13, 2025
Lydia G. Jones, age 55, of Rochester, New York, entered eternal rest on October 13th, 2025.
Lydia was the light of every room she walked into. Her beautiful, soulful laugh filled hearts with joy, and her long, flowing, distinct locs were a reflection of her vibrant spirit and individuality. She expressed herself through love — a love that was deeply felt by everyone fortunate enough to share a conversation, a smile, or a moment with her.
Lydia is survived by her devoted mother, Gloria Jones; her loving son, Walter (Reese) Balkum Jr.; her brothers, Gregory Tucker, Craig Jones, and Reginald Jones Sr.; her cherished nephews, Randy Jackson, Reginald Jones Jr., and Jamal Jones; and her beloved nieces, Tiana Wyatt and Tiesha Wyatt. She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Those who knew Lydia will remember her for her years of working at the Rochester City School District and with individuals with disabilities. She will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and her unwavering compassion. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. Lydia’s presence was a blessing, and her absence will be deeply felt, though her spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, 2-4pm at God’s House of Refuge, 606 Bay St., Rochester, NY 14609.
May her laughter echo forever in our memories, and may her light continue to guide us always.
