Lynn Marapese, age 79, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026.
Born on June 10, 1947, in Rochester, New York, Lynn spent her life in the community she loved. She worked for many years as a crossing guard for the East Irondequoit Central School District, where she enjoyed looking after generations of children and families.
Lynn was the definition of kindness and selflessness. She had a heart that was always open, giving everything she had and often more, to those around her. She never asked for much herself, finding her greatest joy in caring for others. She loved spending time with her family, watching her favorite soap operas (or, as she affectionately called them, her “stories”), and creating beautiful latch hook projects. Her favorite day of the year was always her birthday because it meant having the people she loved gathered together to celebrate.
Lynn was predeceased by her husband, Gary Arthur Marapese, in 2010, and by her parents, Charles and Madelyn Brooks.
She is survived by her loving children, Stephen Marapese, Jeffery Marapese, and Lisa (Aaron) Jones; her cherished grandchildren, Kevin (Liz) Clark, Vincinet Marapese, Jeffery Marapese, Amanda (Anthony) Yankloski, and Miranda Marapese; her treasured great-grandchildren, Ally, Ashton, Lilyan, and Jaxon; her sister, Cheryl Geinitz; her niece, Deborah Franzen-Genitz; her nephew, David (Jennifer) Genitz; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Lynn’s life on Wednesday, July 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Dierna Funeral Home 2309 Culver Rd. A graveside service at Irondequoit Cemetery will immediately follow the calling hours.
Lynn’s greatest legacy was the love she gave so freely. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. She will also be remembered for her beautiful smile, one that could light up any room and brighten the hearts of everyone around her.
