Mary Frances Barry, 92, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026.
A woman of faith, Mary was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. One of 6 children born to Joseph and Helen Kenney of Kenney’s grocery on Genesee St., Mary graduated from Nazareth H.S. and earned a teaching degree from Brockport College. After a 40-year teaching career, Mary’s classroom legacy was one of kindness and patience. A devout Catholic, Mary faithfully kept a long prayer list to lift up the needs of family, friends, and neighbors—a quiet ministry that benefited many.
A lifelong lover of dogs and a golf enthusiast, Mary found joy in visits from friends and family, especially her “G-ma” visits with great-grandson Lincoln. An avid reader, she was seldom without a book.
A devoted wife to Gerard “Jerry” Barry, Mary has carried his memory in her heart since his passing in 1981, with faith in their eventual reunion.
She is survived by children Edward (Chelsey) Barry, Kevin (Jennifer) Barry, Eileen (Kevin) Warren, and Maureen Barry; grandchildren Kyle, Delaney, Shane, Samantha and Sam (Madi); great-grandson Lincoln; sister-in-law Vivian Kenney; close nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Mary lived a life of friendship, love, and loyalty and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends may call Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Dierna Funeral Home, 2309 Culver Rd, Rochester, NY 14609.
Her funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 783 Hard Rd, Webster, NY 14580.

It is with profound sadness that we learn of Mary’s passing. We were neighbors and friends while living in Irondequoit from about 1975 to 2000. During that time, we maintained a friendly relationship with the family, especially with our special friend, Maureen, who gave us much joy when she visited us riding her bicycle. Occasionally, a few individuals give off such light while on earth that even when they depart, the light continues to shine on others. Mary, Gerry and in fact the entire Barry family is included in this observation. Please give our love to Maureen and the entire family
