Apostle, Dr. Mildred L. Session-Meney was born June 21, 1943, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, daughter of the late Josh Session Jr. and Bessie Mae (Rogers) Session. She was born into and raised in a very strict, well-disciplined family environment where she was taught to love and honor her parents and God. Instilled in her from a young child, was a desire for knowledge and a determination to perform every task, large or small, in the spirit of excellence. That even included the household chores assigned to her. Along with her sisters, she was taught how to carry herself as a woman of honor, commanding the respect of all she encountered.
Dr. Session travelled to numerous cities and locales to mentor, teach and counsel as a Professional Leadership Consultant and Trainer. She served as a coach and mentor to many pastors, pastors’ wives, and their churches. Not only did she train church ministry staff, but she was also hired as a Professional Development Educational Consultant and Trainer for the YWCA and the New York State Department of Social Services. Her knowledge base and empathy led her to develop into a skilled helper assisting people in navigating through life’s difficulties.
As a master teacher, she transformed ordinary people into dynamic high achievers, in both the religious and secular environments. Dr. Session was a New York State licensed and certified teacher for over thirty-seven years, before retiring. Following her retirement, she returned to work as a substitute teacher in the Rochester City School District, assigned to work with students who were struggling the most. With love, structure and determination, she was able to turn their educational experiences into success stories. As a member of the licensing board for cosmetologists in New York State, she impacted the licensing guidelines and helped to ensure quality at all levels of training and service delivery in the field. Her knowledge, skills and thoroughness gained her the respect of her colleagues and students, alike.
When asked how she was able to accomplish so much, Dr. Session would refer you to her childhood. She often shared stories of how she was raised in a strict and God-fearing home where active involvement in church was not an option. As a child, she was pastored by the late Reverend Dr. G.G. Gary at Holy City Church of God in Christ (Rochester, NY). As a young adult, she was pastored by the late Bishop Joseph Lacey at Emmanuel Temple, Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. She was later groomed for pastoral and leadership duties by Bishop Eulah M. Nelson at Bibleway Healing Temple, Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. It was while at Bibleway, that she began hosting and producing her television broadcast, The Christian Counseling Ministry, in 1995. Out of that Unique Ministries Church was birthed in 1999, with a new vision and strategies for reaching the least and the lost for Christ.
Pastor Session’s prophetic voice was called upon to speak God’s blessings, strength, and healing into the lives of His people. She had a sensitive heart for young people, women, and people in leadership. Referring to herself as a “Woman of Purpose with a Purpose,” she began hosting her annual “Women of Purpose Conference” in 2009. During that same time, God birthed in her spirit the establishment of the “Daughters of Lydia.” These would be women who realized God had a special call on their lives and they chose to answer “YES” to His call. Dr. Session served as a spiritual mother, prayer partner, and mentor to these awesome Women of God.
In August 2010, Dr. Session was consecrated to the Office of Bishop and two short years later, was affirmed to the Esteemed Office of the Apostle. She was installed as the Chief Apostle and Presiding Prelate of Unique Ministries Christian Fellowship International n 2012. She was founder and pastor of Unique Ministries Church, Inc., in Rochester, NY. With godly insight she served as Vice-President of the Women Pastors Empowerment Group. As a leader and a role model, she served as the National Supervisor of Women for God’s End Time Prophetic Revelation Ministries, Inc., headquartered in Rochester, NY. Dr. Session enjoyed being an Adjunct Professor for the International University of Grace and Truth from which she received her Doctoral degree in Christian Education and Christian Counseling. She graduated summa cum laude. As a testament to the excellent quality of her work, the school continues to utilize her dissertation as an example of excellence.
As founder and overseer of the ministry training institute, “Kingdom Builders” she consistently wrote articles and lesson outlines, conducted workshops and seminars, and developed a variety of training manuals for corporate leaders and church leaders, alike. Most recently, she published her newest training manual entitled, “Equipping Leaders for Ministry in the Spirit of Excellence.” She also co- authored a ministry training manual entitled, “Ordination, A Practical Guide to Preparation.” The call of God upon her life was to build, teach, train, and mentor. God blessed her to be Bishop and Overseer of churches in the Rochester, NY and Baltimore, MD. At the time of her homegoing, Dr. Session was planning even greater exploits for the Kingdom of God, with a focus on developing greater leaders who would operate in the spirit of excellence and the power of God. A vessel of honor totally sold out to God and His divine will for her life, her answer was still “Yes, Lord, Yes!”
She is predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Denise Meney; both her parents, Bessie Mae and Josh Session Jr.; her grandparents, Willie and Beatrice Rogers; two sisters, Geraldine Session and Debbie Joe Smith; a niece, Yolanda Marie Singleton.
Having been called from labor to rest on July 9, 2026, she leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Elder Lisa Louise Meney; two granddaughters, Ebony Scales and Taliesa Evans; three great-grandchildren: Tania, Paul (“PJ”) and Halo, all of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Barbara Singleton of Dallas, TX, and Linda (David) Blake of Dallas, TX; brothers: Josh (Beverly) Session of Rochester, NY, Jerry Session, Esq., of Rochester, NY, and Donald Session, P.A., of Rochester, NY; nieces: Veronica Singleton of Dallas, TX, Kierra (Aaron) Taylor of Dallas, TX, Sandra Session, Bernice Session, Michelle Session, and Wanda Bell, all of Rochester, NY; nephews: Bobby Hopson Jr., Josh and Caleb Session, all of Rochester, NY, and Jonathan Eddy of Dallas, TX; two eldest aunts, Geneva Dukes and Margie Roundtree, both of Rochester, NY; aunts: Shirley Johnson of New Jersey and Jessie Ratclift of Rochester, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends, including Bishop Dr. Eulah M. Nelson, Apostle Dr. Cynthia Anderson, Apostle Nina Warr, Pastor Dorothy Henry, Pastor Regina McNair, Pastor Wilma Ashford, Pastor Dr. Joyce Young, all of Rochester, NY and Apostle Angela Pringle of Glen Burnie, MD, along with a host of other extended family and friends.
This “Woman of Purpose with a Purpose” was a pastor for 27 years, mentor, counselor, trainer, author, mother, grandmother, and minister of the Gospel with a word of encouragement to share with anyone. Her accomplishments are numerous, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
