Quincy Jahmiere Battle was born July 12, 2004, in Rochester, New York to Yamonda McNair and James Battle. He received his education through the Rochester City School District, attending John Williams School No. 5, Edison Tech Park, and All City High School. An all- around athlete, his extracurricular activities primarily consisted of basketball, lacrosse, and soccer.
His work history included positions with McDonald’s Restaurants and Tim Horton’s. When not working, Quincy could be found displaying his extraordinary talent on the basketball court or playing video games. Being a family-oriented young man, it is not surprising that his favorite activities revolved around spending quality time with family and friends. Quincy was always happy and positive, and if you were down, he was sure to find a way of bringing a smile to your face. When he entered the room, the party began. The jokester in him never tired of making people laugh. He was a true atmosphere changer…when he entered the room it instantly lit up. He was the epitome of being “the life of the party.”
Quincy placed high value on relationships. He cultivated relationships with family and friends through his ability to make others feel seen and heard and feel important. Although not a member of any particular church, Quincy was a believer in God and practiced high moral values. You could count on him to provide an attentive listening ear and offer sound advice when needed.
Quincy passed away suddenly on June 26, 2026. He is predeceased by his great-grandmother, Connie McNair; grandmother, Bernice White; grandfather, Charlie Battle Jr.; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves to mourn their loss but cherish fond memories of his brief, yet impactful life: his parents, Yamonda McNair and James (Surmone); grandparents: Michael McNair, Yovonna White, step-grandmother, Monica Grice; and Author Mae Battle; siblings: Quatianna (Bryce Asberry) Leslie, Michael McNair, James Battle Jr., Jesse Clark, Eylandmae Battle, Sin’cere Battle, Nas’nere Battle, and Jazmier Goins; nephews and nieces: Bryson Asberry, Amarice Asberry, Milani McNair, Jaane Battle, and Ahmad Battle; aunts and uncles: Skyler Johnson, Toby (Rochelle) Hinson, Isaiah Hinson, Terry (Deltres) Battle, Derrick Steele, Paul Battle (Latoya Singleton), Charlette Langley (Crandle Wallace), Tracy (Joe) Langley; a host of cousins and friends, including special friends from childhood: Jittwan Patrick, Terrell Hollins, Rashawn Williams, and his best friends, Victoria Lake, Brandon Latson, Michael Morgan, Danielise Nunes and Ja’seana Houston, and the late Charles Barnes III. He also leaves a beloved Godsister, PAsia Sloan; Godbrother, Courtney Pain Jr., and a host of extended family whose lives were forever changed from the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Quincy’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 12th, at 12 noon, at Breath of Life Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1410 Clifford Avenue, with calling hours beginning at 10:00 a.m. Quincy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
