It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Richard W. Rice, who left us surrounded by the love of his family.
Richard was predeceased by his brother, Donald Rice, and his sister, Jean P. Dodge.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Mary DiPaolo Rice; his sister, Joan (John) Mitchell; his niece, Diane (Steve) Frasca; and several cherished nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Fulton (AS-11), the lead ship of her class of submarine tenders. His service reflected his deep sense of duty, honor, and commitment—qualities that carried through every aspect of his life.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and the love he gave so generously to his family and friends. A loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend, Richard’s legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We will miss Richard walking Seawatch Trail and peaceful Harbor Lane. We will miss his love of nature, animals, and the treats for all the neighborhood dogs. We will miss his easy going ways and kindness. Richard was our neighbor…our privilege and our blessing.
Richard was my neighbor and my friend. My dog Oliver was his buddy. We will miss him. Rest in peace Richard.
Richard was a neighbor and a very kind person. Whenever my husband and I walked outside. He would stop, smile and say “It’s a beautiful day isn’t it.” Richard may you enjoy all of your beautiful days now.” May you be at peace now.
We will hold forever, memory of Uncle Richard, who often had a smile and infectious laugh. As a kid, I would have to be on guard or he’d wrestle you and bite on your ear! I tell my son Matthew that he gets his love of country music from Uncle Dick, who was country from way back. Time passed, and the love of his life Mary stole him away. They were off on their adventures. Dick loved to get a rise out of his sisters, telling them stories from overseas. One time Richard and Mary met with family at Letchworth park. It wasn’t long before he was challenging and running a race with my little Matthew and Katie. I’m thankful to have spent a little time with him lately, to see that the years hadn’t taken away the Uncle Richard of my youth.
