Obituary of Shirley B. Fallon
August 24,1925 – October 13, 2021.
Shirley grew up in the heart of Rochester’s city at 20 Wilkins Street with her parents, Harry and Clara Barnett, and Aunts Hattie and Martha Miller. She attended Benjamin Franklin High School, and later graduated from Cornell University with a degree in bio-chemistry. She did summer work at Kodak’s Film Testing Division, and it was here she met her future husband, Walter A. Fallon. After college, she did research work at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Shirley and Walt made their home in West Irondequoit where they enjoyed their rhododendrons, their pool, close Edgewater Lane neighbors and Durand Eastman Park. During later years, Shirley loved her summers at Canandaigua lake, and winters at Vanderbilt Beach in Naples, Florida. She loved her travel adventures, birds, pool, water views, dolphin sightings and many Gulfside condo friends who were like family.
Shirley didn’t make her goal of reaching 104; but instead, treasured the 96 years she had. There was more she wanted to be part of. She had hoped to see the world unfold into a better caring humanity. She still will.
She will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Mark Dieter; grandchildren, Kim (Mike) VanTyne and Greg (Rachel Wrights) Dieter; and her beloved grand-pups, Tucker and Rigatoni. In addition to extended family; loving friends included Patricia Malan, Dan Blanchard, Jack and Ginny Kellogg, Jan Chapman, Roy Lomicka, and Mildred Hodson.

The Fallons were my neighbors between
June 1963 and June 1972, and were well-thought-of
by myself and my family.
