Ms. Valeta A. “Shug” Floyd
December 31, 1971 – February 20, 2026

Ms. Valeta A. Floyd, affectionately known as “Shug,” departed this life peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a cherished friend to all who knew her. Born in Rochester, NY, she was the beloved daughter of Bert Moore and Joyce Floyd.
Shug is predeceased by her sister, Janelle.
She leaves to honor her legacy: her son, Franklin Floyd; her daughter, Tavia Hines; four treasured grandchildren; her special aunt, Eloise Leonard; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 3:00 PM, with visitation from 2:00–3:00 PM, at Dierna Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
The family invites you to share messages of love and remembrance below as they celebrate the life of their beloved Shug.

Me and shug go back the teenager years when we were in a group home together boy me and her used to laugh so hard and have so much fun and years went on I seen her downtown at the building and we just started talking like we never departed from each other she has a truly good heart and she is truly going to be missed my condolence to you and the family🙏🏾❤️
