Whitney passed peacefully on June 20th with his wife and son by his side. He is predeceased by his father Robert McMahon and his mother Eva Whitney, his in-laws Joseph and Thelma Hildebrand.
Survived by his wife Catherine and son Michael. Brother-in-law Dennis (Pat) Hildebrand, their grandchildren, cousins.
Whitney was devoted to his wife and son and cared for them deeply. He was always there for them whenever they needed him. He had a great sense of humor that everyone enjoyed.
He was a Navy veteran, proud of his service as a radioman during the Vietnam era. For thirty plus years he repaired equipment at the Post Office.
Loved collecting anything train related. Was the editor of an international train collectors’ newsletter for several years. Whitney adored cats, making sure there was always one living at home with us. Liked to build wooden things for the house. Couldn’t go a day without reading a book and ended almost every night with a bowl of ice cream.
Calling hours at Dierna Funeral Home on Saturday June 27th, at 5pm-7pm, with a brief service at 7pm.
