Klemp, Louis W. “Hooper”
Irondequiot, NY, on 12/15/2022 at the age of 60, passed away peacefully. Beloved husband to Kelley (Roche). Loving father to JamieLou (Jacob) Allen. Devoted brother to Chuck Klemp, Doug (Katie) Klemp, Dawn (Clarence) Troedel, David (Carolyn) Klemp, Bill (Joyce Harrington) Klemp, Nancy Shields, Kitty (Dan) O’Connor, and Andy Klemp. Predeceased by David (Carolyn) Klemp and Kitty O’Connor and an influencing friend and coach to all.
Lou was born November 9th of 1962, in Antigo, WI; hence the beginning of the world’s biggest cheesehead fan. Go Pak Go! Even at a young age he was a trickster of all trades; traveling, coaching, playing darts and beach volleyball to working as a handyman. He stumbled upon his wife, Kelley in New Hampshire and they packed up to move to Rochester NY where they had their daughter Jamie Lou.
As a never-ending worker bee who could never keep his hands in his pockets, Louis took on a multitude of jobs. He was a part of the Town of Irondequoit for 25 years, on top of that he participated in the police auxiliary and officiated high school and college sports. His true passion in his career was coaching. So many had the opportunity to be coached by him; boys and girls volleyball, little league, basketball, and lacrosse. He coached with his whole heart and pushed all his athletes to be greater than he was.
Always a family man Lou cherished all moments with them, if there was a baby in sight, best believe they were in Uncle Lou’s arms. Lou was the life of all events, when Big Lou walked in, it was time for the party to start! Lou is an amazing man who touched so many souls and had a huge impact over the grounds he walked. He will truly be missed and remembered.
Friends may call Thursday December 22nd, from 4-7pm at Dierna Funeral Home 2309 Culver Rd. Where his funeral service will be held on Friday 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Unit 412 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

And I will be sad not to be able to continue making money off of you every time the Giants embarrass your Pack. best volleyball coach i’ve had. thank you for showing me how to love a sport and being a team. i’m so glad i got to start my volleyball career with you in 6th grade intramurals in 2013 and end it with you in 12th grade varsity in 2019. when you told us you had cancer, practices and games were never the same after that, and the eastridge volleyball community will miss you dearly. fly high to the best volleyball coach out there!
Hooper was my partner in on the hoops teams in high school. What a great guy! Thought about him many times over the years. We really cracked each other up. Seems he has had a great life=> good for him and all around him. My prayers to his loved ones.
We called Lou “sweet Lou” . He was great at all things volleyball and at eating wings. Our team is the “Cheeseheads ” but he was the real “Cheesehead”. We and all the people you touched will miss you dearly. RIP buddy, no more suffering.

I enjoyed working with Lou and we became friends over many years. I’ll always cherish the memories.
Lou was a kind friend and a “good old soul”. He will be truly be missed. Especially those early morning “honks” from the salt truck in the winter as he passed by the house.
Lou and I worked together at the Town for many years. We had lots of fun at the softball games, but the best was the wings and beer with the guys. Lou was a good man with a big heart and he will be missed by all that touched his life.
Working with big Lou was an honor RIP my friend.

It was always a pleasure to be around you and your great sense of humor no matter what we were doing or where we were doing it – especially on the volleyball court or Hitchcocks eating those jumbo wings!!
Our Dear Lou Klemp – we sure loved him! What a great, caring man. An extremely conscientious, hard worker. A fanatic Cheesehead-YES; a caring, dedicated Coach-YES; a loving, baby-cuddling Big Man-YES. Very dear to our two daughters ever since the famous “432 Lancers” girls basketball team. We also recall Lou’s early morning honks on the salt runs, and I even remember a few times when I would see that swerving plow path as Lou would make sure the bottom of my driveway got an extra couple feet of snow in it. We surely have many fond memories of our years with Coach Lou! Our deepest prayers go out to Kelley, Jamie, and all who knew him.
Lou will be missed greatly! He was a very unique man in that regardless of how long you knew him it felt as if you knew him forever. All around him felt like they were with one of their best friends!
Sincere condolences to Kelly, Jamie and the family. Just found out about Lou’s passing… Remembering the days of darts (301 Double in Double out) at some smoke filled tournament in Henrietta, and the weekly team games at a variety of smoked filled bars around Rochester before any of us had kids. He was sooo competitive. Then re-acquanted with our girls in EIAA lacrosse from very young when there were only a handful of girls, and all of them continuing on into high school even still with only enough to field a team. He was made for coaching.
